NOTICE OF EVENT
 
 An invitation to Skippers of suitable small craft to enter 
 
  The WMSC Waterloo Bay Raid 2019
 
 This a two-day regatta for suitable shallow draft vessels that are capable of progress under wind power and under human propulsion.  The dates of the event are  1st and 2nd of June  2019 
  
A Briefing will be held on the morning of each event day at 09:00 at WMYC.

1 RULES
 1.1 All vessels will comply with International Regulations for Preventing Collisions at Sea. 1.2 All vessels will comply with the Transport Operations (Marine Safety) Act 1994 and subordinate Regulations. 1.3 Vessels are not to impede commercial shipping. 1.4 All vessels will comply with  Australian Sailing’s “o ff the  beach”  safet y re quirem ents  . 1.5 Vessels must observe a 20 metre exclusion zone around any Queensland Transport aid to navigation. 1.6 All marine incidents must be reported to the Officer Of the Day (OOD), in addition to regulatory requirements to report marine incidents to Maritime Safety Queensland.
 
2 ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY
 2.1 The regatta is open to vessels that can be propelled by both human and wind power. Please note there will be compulsory elements to demonstrate both capacities. 2.2 Subject to 2.1, vessels up to 6 meters in length, including off the beach craft, that are skippered by a person over 18 years of age may enter. 2.3 Vessels with auxiliary power engines of 3kW or more are not eligible to enter, but are encouraged to volunteer as support boats. 2.4 Entries must be made online via www.wynnummanlysailingclub.com.au 2.5 Late entries will be accepted as detailed in the Sailing Instructions.
 
3 FEES
 3.1 There is a $50 entry fee for the entire event.
 
4 SCHEDULE
 4.1 Dates of the event are 1sr June 2019 and 2nd June 2019. 4.2 Number of activities per day: two. 4.3 Weather dependant, the participants may be on the water from 10am to 4pm.
 
5 DIVISIONS
 5.1 All vessels will compete in the same division.
 
6 SAILING INSTRUCTIONS
 6.1 The sailing instructions will be available after 28th April 2019 from the club website www.wynnummanlysailingclub.com.au
 
7 VENUE

8 RACE ACTIVITY LOCATION
 8.1 Waterloo Bay
  
9 THE COURSES
 9.1 The courses will be within Waterloo Bay and within the confines of the chartlet Appendix A.
 
10 SUPPORT BOATS
 10.1 Support boats shall be marked with WMYC pennant.
 
11 RADIO COMMUNICATION
 11.1 Competitors shall monitor VHF channel 72. 11.2 There is no limit on communication between vessels in the fleet. However, inappropriate use of VHF radio by competitors may result in penalties.
 
12 PRIZES
 12.1 Prizes will be a complete surprise and consistent with fun and participation ethos of this event.
 
13 DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY
 13.1 Competitors participate in the regatta entirely at their own risk.  It is every skipper’s sole decision whether to compete, or to continue to compete, in the regatta.  The organizing authority will not accept any liability for material damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during, or after the regatta.
 
14 INSURANCE
 14.1 It is strongly recommended, although not compulsory, that each participating vessel be insured with valid third-party liability insurance with a minimum cover of $5,000,000 per event or the equivalent. 14.2 NO liability arising from the actions, inactions or equipment of any competitor will be accepted by Wynnum Manly Sailing Club Inc, Wynnum Manly Yacht Club Inc, or any of its paid of volunteer officials involved in the event under any circumstances whatsoever.
 
15 SHORE BASED CONTACT
 15.1 Each skipper will provide a name and contact number for their yacht’s shore based contact. 15.2 It is the skipper’s responsibility to ensure the shore based contact for their entered yacht has a complete list of crew members aboard for each race and their individual shore based contacts.
