Flinders Day Messabout Weekend.
This is a combined Messabout Event with the Tingira Boat Club. Blue Peter and the Cleveland Yacht Club have indicated attending the Flinders Day Celebration.
The Tingira Boat Club confirms the invitation to members of WBAQ to camp overnight in their grounds as part of the WBAQ planned Matthew Flinders' Day Messabout.
Tingira Boat Club also extend an invitation to visiting WBAQ members to attend the Tingira Pirates Commodore's Ball
being held on Saturday 14 July at the Tingira Clubhouse commencing at 6:00pm. Dress for the Ball is a casual pirate /
Friday 13th July
Launch at Weinam Creek, Redland Bay. Car and boat parking has been organised at the Redland Bay Amateur Fishing Club across from the barge ramps and adjacent to the Redland Bay Police Station. Cost is $20.00 per car and trailer for the three nights. Pay Jim. The Club will have the gates open between 10:00 and 10:30 on Friday.
Sail, row or motor to the Tingira Boat Club on Macleay Island. There is shore access at the Club for dinghies in
accordance with the times indicated below. It is suggested that trailer sailers anchor in Dalpura Bay overnight.
The combined WBAQ and Tingira Boat Club programme for the Matthew Flinders' Day Weekend is as follows:
Friday 13 July:
High Tide is at 9:41am.
Water access to Tingira Club possible from 7:41am to 11:41am.
Club Bar opened from 6:00pm.
DIY BBQ available or walk to nearby Macleay Island Bowls Club for a bistro meal.
Saturday 14 July:
High Tide is at 10:36am.
Water access to Tingira possible from 8:30am to 12:30pm.
Depending on the wind, a day picnic sail to either Blakesley’s Anchorage / Garden Island cutting / Karragarra Beach and
Tingira Pirates Commodore's Ball (3 Course Dinner; Bar open from 6:00pm; Music and Dancing; Tickets $25 per scallywag)
Sunday 15 July
High Tide is at 11:30am.
Water access to Tingira possible from 9:30am to 1:30pm.
8:30am - Boat yard open & boat rigging
9:30am - Launching (everyone to give a hand)
10:00am - Mass start of the Tingira Club boats and the WBAQ boats from the Tingira Pontoon. Sail, paddle, motor over
to Coochiemudlo Island. Two safety boats will accompany the fleet. Assemble off Main Beach at Coochiemudlo Is
The parade arrives at the flagpole at 10.20am when the official speeches from Lance Hewlett and Kim Richards
happen at 10.30 along with the National Anthem and raising of the flag.
Matthew Flinders and the boat "Trim' will leave the parade and proceed to the boat ramp to be ready to be rowed
across the southern end of the Coochie jetty to come alongside the beach at aprox 11.45am. We will be encouraging
the crowd to move to the beach from 11.30am.
11:45am - Matthew Flinders' Landing Re-enactment at Coochiemudlo Main Beach
12:30pm - Return to Tingira Club on Macleay island
1:30pm - Boats retrieved (to ensure sufficient tide depth)

Monday 16 July:
High Tide is at 12:20pm.
Water access to Tingira possible from 10:30am to 2:30pm.
WBAQ Members return to Weinam Creek to retrieve their car and trailers from the Fishing Club between 14:00 and 14:30 on Monday.
